![]() He was a superstar who in his lifetime never had a monster record, good health or lasting love, but was adored by fans who empathized with his struggles. Pete, 27, is riding his excessively modest schtick to star in the upcoming biopic about the late Joey Ramone, another tall, misunderstood and chronically ill soul who rose from Queens to the heights of New York City’s punk rock scene before dying well before his time. Against all odds, he’s a surprisingly gifted actor and hilarious comedian who’s described himself in a standup routine as looking like a “crack baby.” A well-paid one. Self-deprecating, usually stoned and admittedly mentally ill, he loves his mother and unapologetically embraces his outer-borough roots, trashed psyche and sickly body while in demand by a plethora of smoking women of all ages. Pete Davidson, tall, damaged and, for the moment, heavily tattooed, is the unexpectedly hot leading man for our time. Probably something endearing and uncommon for a celebrity, if I had to guess.Ī couple of comics who know him since he was 17 starting out in clubs told a story about him asking them over to play video games. Now as to why he’s so attractive to the women he’s dated, I have no idea. I think he’s able to leverage a lot of that into being able to do things like “King of Staten Island” and “Bupkis”. I think he’s endearing in his own bemused-at-his-own-fame kind of way, and when you combine that with his SNL fame and his string of super-hot dating partners, he’s pretty newsworthy as far as vapid celebrity news goes. He’s also clearly quite intelligent, even though he seems to downplay it in his public persona. And I’m probably stretching pretty hard to second-guess how people think as well, so take that with a big grain of salt. I don’t have anything to back that up, other than that just seems to be the way he is, and I could see that being his actual private persona as well. How many guys that Kate Beckinsale dates are either uninterested in her fame, or uninterested in their own fame? I imagine that sort of attitude combined with interest skates pretty close to her thinking he likes her for her own sake, not for everything else. ![]() My guess is that he’s not about the fame and being the center of attention, and that’s likely unusual for a comedian/performer. He’s got something about his personality that’s interesting/charming/attractive to good looking celebrity women. I guess he’s a strange sort of charming- that’s sort of where I was going with the endearing part. I mean, I wouldn’t go so far as to call him ugly, but at the same time, he’s not Rege-Jean Page or George Clooney or anyone like that. I’ll take that literally just to move the thread along…
